NRC’s Director of Operations, Dr. Akin Osinowo, Inspects Warri-Itakpe Rail Yard, Engages Passengers on Service Delivery

In a move aimed at strengthening service efficiency and reinforcing operational standards, the Director of Operations at the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Akin Osinowo, embarked on an official inspection visit to the Warri-Itakpe Train Service yard on May 15 and 16, 2025. The visit underscores the Corporation’s ongoing commitment to improving passenger experience and ensuring the seamless functionality of one of Nigeria’s most critical standard gauge corridors.

Dr. Osinowo was accompanied by key senior officials, including the Deputy Director of Health, Safety and Environment, and the Assistant Director of Operational Standards. The team undertook a comprehensive review of facilities, operational routines, and staff performance within the yard.

During the inspection, Dr. Osinowo interacted directly with both staff and passengers, emphasizing the importance of professionalism, safety consciousness, and service excellence in Nigeria’s growing rail transport sector. He encouraged employees to uphold the Corporation’s values, stressing that their dedication plays a vital role in sustaining public confidence in the railway system.

One of the key highlights of the visit was Dr. Osinowo’s engagement with passengers onboard and at the station, where he gathered firsthand feedback on the quality of service, punctuality, comfort, and customer care. Many commuters expressed satisfaction with the speed and convenience of the Warri-Itakpe service, but also shared recommendations on areas where improvements could be made, including ticketing procedures, communication, and onboard amenities.

The Warri-Itakpe rail line, which connects Delta, Edo, and Kogi States, continues to serve as a vital link for commuters and goods movement across the region. With its increasing patronage, the NRC has placed renewed focus on maintenance, operational standards, and customer satisfaction.

Dr. Osinowo’s visit is part of a broader evaluation tour being carried out across various NRC service corridors, as the agency aims to modernize rail operations and support the Federal Government’s agenda for an integrated national transportation system.
