NYSC DG Celebrates Brigadier General Tsiga’s Safe Return from Captivity

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, has expressed profound joy and relief over the release of retired Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, a former NYSC Director-General. Tsiga was abducted from his hometown in the Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State on February 5, 2025, and spent 56 days in captivity before being freed.

Tsiga’s release was facilitated by a combination of efforts, with conflicting reports suggesting both military operations and financial contributions played roles. While the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) emphasized that a coordinated military operation secured his release, other sources indicate that financial support from military generals and civilians was also crucial. A WhatsApp platform named “TSIGA” was created to coordinate donations, reflecting the community’s commitment to securing his freedom.

The NYSC DG’s celebration highlights the strong bond within the NYSC community and the broader military fraternity. It also underscores the resilience and solidarity shown by Tsiga’s family and supporters throughout his ordeal. As Tsiga returns home safely, it marks a moment of relief and gratitude for all involved.

Tsiga’s safe return is a welcome development for the NYSC and the military community, reinforcing the importance of unity and support in times of adversity. As he reunites with his family and friends, it serves as a reminder of the strength found in collective action and the enduring spirit of camaraderie within the military and beyond.
