Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday carried out a series of unannounced inspection visits to major road and bridge construction sites across the state as part of his administration’s commitment to quality and timely project delivery.
The governor, who has consistently emphasized his zero-tolerance policy for substandard projects, visited four critical infrastructure sites — the Trans-Warri Road/Bridge project, the Ayakoromo Bridge, the Olomoro-Igbide Road, and Sector C1 of the ambitious Ughelli-Asaba dual carriageway project.
Speaking during the inspection tour, Governor Oborevwori said the visits were intended to provide a firsthand assessment of the progress and quality of ongoing works. He noted that the projects are central to his administration’s drive to open up communities, boost economic activities, and enhance interconnectivity across the state.
“I am here to ensure that what we are paying for is exactly what is being done. We won’t compromise on quality, and we won’t accept any shortcuts. Delta people deserve durable infrastructure that will stand the test of time,” the governor declared at one of the sites.
The inspection team, which included engineers, project consultants, and state officials, engaged with contractors on-site to review technical details and timelines. Governor Oborevwori also warned contractors against delayed delivery or any deviation from agreed specifications, stressing that the state government will not hesitate to sanction any firm that fails to meet set standards.
The Trans-Warri Road/Bridge and Ayakoromo Bridge projects are particularly strategic, as they link riverine communities to the mainland, improving mobility and access to essential services. The Ughelli-Asaba road project, especially Sector C1, remains a flagship project in the state’s infrastructure agenda, designed to facilitate east-west transportation within Delta.
Residents and community leaders in the affected areas applauded the governor’s proactive leadership, describing the inspections as a welcome move that signals seriousness and transparency in governance.
Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed that his administration will continue to prioritize infrastructure development, with strict oversight to ensure quality, efficiency, and value for public funds.
