Ogun Governor Honors Unilag’s Top Graduates as Education Ambassadors with N20m Reward.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has celebrated the remarkable achievements of two outstanding University of Lagos graduates, Samuel Badekale and Haroun Adebakin, by appointing them as Education Ambassadors of Ogun State. The duo, who achieved an exceptional Grade Point Average of 5.0 each during the university’s 55th convocation, were further honored with monetary rewards of ₦10 million each for their diligence and academic excellence.

While hosting the scholars at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun praised their determination and commitment, acknowledging their success as a reflection of the “Ogun State spirit” and an inspiration for others to follow. According to the governor, their success illustrates the immense rewards that come with hard work, discipline, and perseverance.

The governor emphasized the importance of their new roles as Education Ambassadors, which will include visiting schools to motivate students and encourage them to emulate similar virtues. He pointed out that their shared experiences with the youth would allow them to effectively connect and inspire younger generations to pursue excellence in academics and life. “Your achievements should serve as a beacon of hope and determination for other students,” the governor remarked.

Governor Abiodun also seized the opportunity to highlight the role of education as a catalyst for success and poverty eradication. He commended the parents of both graduates for their sacrifices and the values instilled in their children, emphasizing that the true reward for such sacrifices lies in the success of their offspring. The governor noted that Ogun State has consistently produced eminent individuals excelling in various fields, thanks to a culture of excellence deeply rooted in the region.

Furthermore, he reiterated his administration’s commitment to repositioning the education sector through impactful reforms under the Revitalization Agenda. The introduction of the Learner Identification System, which tracks the progress of students, is one of the numerous reforms aimed at fostering development and improving educational standards in the state. This innovative system, the governor noted, has attracted interest from other states across the federation.

On their part, Badekale and Adebakin expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the governor for the recognition and support, stating that the honor bestowed on them is a testament to the administration’s dedication to advancing the education sector in Ogun State. They encouraged young people to remain focused on their education and steer clear of negative influences, assuring them that success and recognition come through hard work and integrity.

The governor’s gesture is not just a recognition of excellence but also a strong statement on the importance of education in building a prosperous society. By empowering young achievers and encouraging them to inspire others, the Ogun State government under Prince Dapo Abiodun continues to set a precedent for cultivating a thriving, knowledge-driven community. The appointment of the duo as Education Ambassadors is a step towards fostering a brighter future for the youth of Ogun State and beyond.
