FG Pledges to Deepen Nigeria–Russia Ties in Education, Research, and Cultural Exchange

Abuja, Nigeria — August 14, 2025 | The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s educational and cultural partnership with Russia, underscoring the value of a decades-long relationship that has yielded scholarships, technical training, and cultural programmes for Nigerian students and institutions.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made the pledge during a meeting in Abuja with Russian Ambassador Nikolay Udovichenko. The talks reviewed ongoing collaborations and explored new opportunities in higher education, research, capacity building, and cultural exchange.

Dr. Alausa said Nigeria remains committed to nurturing the partnership despite current economic challenges, noting that past initiatives have significantly enriched the country’s academic and cultural landscape.

Ambassador Udovichenko reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness to expand cooperation, pledging support for fresh projects aimed at boosting people-to-people connections and advancing mutual development between the two nations.
