ABEOKUTA — The Ogun II Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a 40 percent increase in revenue generation in the first quarter of 2025, signaling a significant improvement in its operational performance.
The Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu, disclosed this on Tuesday during a media briefing at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta. He said the command raked in over ₦24 billion between January and March 2025, compared to ₦17 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.
Shuaibu attributed the revenue growth to enhanced compliance strategies, increased stakeholder engagement, and improved deployment of technology in excise monitoring.
He also revealed that the command uncovered an illegal excise factory operating without the necessary approvals. “Our officers, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted and sealed an unauthorized factory producing beverages without NCS registration and excise payment clearance,” he stated.
The Area Controller reaffirmed the command’s commitment to enforcing Nigeria’s fiscal policies, safeguarding public health, and protecting legitimate businesses from unfair competition.
Shuaibu further warned illicit operators to desist from illegal practices, noting that the command would not hesitate to prosecute offenders in accordance with the law.
The Ogun II Command oversees excise operations in key industrial corridors in Ogun State and has recently intensified surveillance and audit processes to plug revenue leakages.
