Ogun-Osun River Basin Executive Urges Transparency, Teamwork to Advance Tinubu’s Food Security Drive

The newly appointed Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (O-ORBDA), Mr. Ayobami Oyalowo, has pledged to uphold accountability, transparency, and inter-agency collaboration in order to support President Bola Tinubu’s national food security agenda.

Oyalowo made this known on Wednesday while assuming office at the Authority’s headquarters, where he addressed staff and stakeholders on his vision for a more efficient and results-driven institution. He stated that the future of Nigeria’s agricultural transformation rests heavily on the coordinated efforts of relevant agencies and individuals, stressing that the River Basin Authority under his watch will align fully with the Renewed Hope agenda of the present administration.

“Our mission at the Ogun-Osun River Basin is pivotal to the realisation of President Tinubu’s agricultural and food security objectives. I am committed to providing strategic financial oversight and administrative support that will ensure the success of every initiative under our mandate,” Oyalowo said.

He noted that fostering unity across departments and with external partners is critical to meeting project goals, particularly in water resource management and agricultural development. According to him, synergy within the Authority will not only boost efficiency but also lead to measurable improvements in service delivery.

“I am determined to cultivate a collaborative and transparent work culture where teamwork and open communication are the norm. Together, we can achieve remarkable progress and position this Authority as a model of excellence in public service,” he said.

Reiterating his commitment to financial discipline, Oyalowo said the office would operate under principles of prudence, efficiency, and rigorous accountability. He assured that all resources would be managed judiciously, with a strong emphasis on compliance with financial best practices and internal controls.

“The era of waste and lax oversight is over. My leadership will be defined by responsible stewardship of public funds and proactive financial planning that strengthens our ability to implement impactful projects,” he added.

He appealed for the full cooperation of all staff, stakeholders, and development partners, stressing that collective effort is necessary to drive the Authority toward long-term success.

On his part, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of O-ORBDA, Dr. Deji Ashiru, welcomed Oyalowo and other newly appointed executive directors, describing the team as highly skilled professionals whose expertise is crucial to actualising the vision of the Tinubu-led administration.

Ashiru maintained that with the right leadership and commitment, the Ogun-Osun River Basin can become a central player in the effort to harness water resources for irrigation, boost food production, and secure sustainable livelihoods for communities across its operational regions.

The Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority is one of the 12 river basin authorities in Nigeria tasked with managing water resources for agricultural and socio-economic development, particularly in areas spanning Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Lagos, and parts of Kwara and Ondo states.
