Ogun State, Nigeria | September 18, 2025
The Ogun State Government has sealed two Chinese-owned firms over alleged breaches of environmental regulations, accusing them of improper waste disposal and unsanitary operations.
The affected companies are Yibao Industrial Limited, located in Bara Village along the Sagamu–Abeokuta Expressway, and Ronchang Industrial Park, situated in Ewu-Osile on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
According to the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), the enforcement exercise followed repeated warnings to the firms to comply with the state’s environmental laws. Officials said the companies ignored directives to engage accredited waste collectors and consistently obstructed proper waste evacuation, leading to the shutdown.
Abayomi Hunye, OGWAMA Managing Director and Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Waste Management, explained that the action was taken in the public interest. He stressed that the government would not compromise on the health and safety of residents, adding that the move underscored Ogun’s commitment to enforcing compliance with global best practices.
“The state will not fold its arms and allow any company to endanger lives through environmental abuse. We are committed to a zero-tolerance policy against violations, and other companies are strongly advised to put their operations in order or face similar sanctions,” Hunye stated.
The government further warned that the clampdown serves as a clear message to industries across Ogun State to align their operations with established waste management standards or risk closure.
