Ogun State Secures $2.25 Billion Deal with ARISE IIP to Host World’s Largest Garment Factory

Abeokuta, July 27, 2025 — In a monumental stride toward industrial transformation, Ogun State is set to become home to the largest garment manufacturing facility in the world, following a landmark $2.25 billion (₦3.375 trillion) investment agreement with ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms (ARISE IIP).

The development was confirmed by state authorities and ARISE IIP officials on Saturday, as both parties unveiled the ambitious project aimed at positioning Nigeria as a global leader in textile and garment production. The facility, to be located within one of the state’s industrial zones, will be developed in phases, with construction expected to commence in the final quarter of 2025.

According to project documents, the mega facility will not only produce garments at global scale but also integrate cutting-edge textile technology, support logistics infrastructure, and provide end-to-end supply chain solutions. The factory is projected to generate tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, particularly for youths and women, while catalyzing economic growth in the region.

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun hailed the deal as a “defining milestone in Nigeria’s industrial history,” reiterating his administration’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly climate through infrastructure upgrades, policy stability, and ease-of-doing-business reforms.

ARISE IIP, a pan-African industrial development group with operations in Gabon, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Togo, expressed optimism about Nigeria’s potential to become a manufacturing powerhouse. The company emphasized that the Ogun State project will serve both local and export markets, tapping into the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and beyond.

With this agreement, Nigeria now positions itself to reclaim leadership in the textile sector while advancing its economic diversification agenda under the federal government’s Renewed Hope industrialization initiative.
