Ogun State Set to Commence 2025 Public Service Week with Series of Activities

The 2025 edition of the annual Public Service Day celebration in Ogun State will officially commence on Friday, with a range of events lined up to honour the invaluable contributions of public servants to the state’s socio-economic development. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, who noted that the week-long celebration is in alignment with the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution to annually recognise the efforts and dedication of public sector workers around the world.

According to the release, the festivities will begin with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, June 15, at the Government House Chapel in Isale Igbehin, Abeokuta. The service is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to be attended by top government functionaries and civil servants across various ministries and agencies.

On Tuesday, June 17, the celebration will continue with a health-focused event tagged “Know Your Health Status” to be held at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. The programme, which starts at 9:00 a.m., aims to promote health awareness and encourage regular medical check-ups among public servants.

The midweek schedule, set for Wednesday, June 18, will feature indoor games from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the Arcade Ground, followed by football matches for both male and female teams drawn from the core civil service and parastatals. The sporting contests will hold at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, starting from 2:00 p.m.

The grand finale of the celebration is slated for Thursday, June 19, with the Public Service Day Lecture taking centre stage at the Obas’ Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. The lecture, which is scheduled to begin by 10:00 a.m., will explore the theme: “Managing the Public Service for Excellence and Service Delivery in the 21st Century: The Role of Innovation, Adaptation, and Technology.” Stakeholders from across the public sector are expected to converge for this intellectual engagement, which aims to chart a new course for effective service delivery in an ever-evolving governance landscape.

Public servants across all cadres have been encouraged to participate actively in the activities marking the 2025 Public Service Day and are reminded to be seated at least 30 minutes before the commencement of each scheduled event.
