Judiciary Workers in Osun Begin Indefinite Strike Over Welfare, Promotions

Osogbo, Osun State – September 20, 2025

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State chapter, has directed its members to withdraw their services and stay away from work, declaring an indefinite strike over unresolved welfare issues and stalled promotions.

In a statement signed by the union’s chairman, Idris Adedayo Adeniran, the workers accused the state’s Judicial Service Commission of failing to address demands outlined in a letter dated September 3, 2025.

The union noted that despite issuing a three-day ultimatum earlier in the week, there had been no engagement from the commission.

According to the union, the strike action became necessary after repeated calls for intervention in the implementation of 2024 and 2025 promotions, as well as other welfare entitlements, went unanswered.

Courts and other judicial activities across the state are expected to be affected as the industrial action takes effect. As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Judicial Service Commission has not issued an official response to the workers’ grievances.
