Abuja, Nigeria – June 16, 2025 — Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Olanipekun “Ola” Olukoyede, today addressed a select group of university students, urging them to become proactive heroes in the fight against corruption and cybercrime. He made the appeal during a sensitization programme at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja .
Represented by senior EFCC officials, Olukoyede highlighted the central role of the youth in safeguarding Nigeria’s future. He stated, “The future of Nigeria depends on you. Embrace integrity. Reject every form of corruption—no matter how small” . He warned that the absence of ethical grounding among students would severely diminish both personal and national prospects.
The EFCC’s presentation emphasised the dangers of internet-related crimes such as sextortion, identity theft, and cyberbullying. Experts urged students to use digital platforms responsibly, cautioning that compromised online behaviour could lead to lasting reputational and legal damage .
Ace Aisha Muhammed, head of the Re‑orientation Unit, reinforced the message by urging them to uphold moral standards and act as ambassadors of integrity within their communities. “Corruption begins with small lies. Integrity is the firm foundation upon which your future is built,” she said .
Olukoyede tasked the students with serving as “ears and eyes” of the EFCC, encouraging them to report suspicious activity and support the agency’s mission to cleanse Nigeria’s financial and digital spaces .
