The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa Olukoyede, has issued a stern warning that corrupt individuals must not be allowed to enjoy the fruits of their criminal activities. Speaking during a recent anti-corruption event, Olukoyede emphasized the agency’s unwavering commitment to recovering stolen assets and ensuring that ill-gotten wealth does not enrich perpetrators.
Olukoyede highlighted that corruption remains a major impediment to Nigeria’s development, draining resources meant for public welfare and economic growth. He stressed that the EFCC is intensifying efforts to trace, seize, and repatriate assets acquired through corrupt means, making it clear that there will be no safe haven for looters.
“Our fight against corruption is relentless. Those who engage in corrupt practices will not be allowed to benefit or enjoy the proceeds of their crimes. Recovering stolen wealth is not just about justice, but about restoring hope and resources to the Nigerian people,” he said.
The EFCC Chairman called on citizens to support the agency’s work by reporting suspicious activities and underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in both public and private sectors. His remarks come at a critical time as Nigeria intensifies its battle against corruption to foster sustainable development and good governance.
