Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has raised serious alarms over the escalating threat posed by Boko Haram insurgents, revealing that the terror group is dangerously close to taking over one of the local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
According to the governor, recent intelligence and ground reports indicate that Boko Haram fighters are making aggressive moves to expand their foothold, with only one local government in the area still resisting their control. Governor Zulum stressed the urgent need for enhanced security measures and community vigilance to prevent the insurgents from further destabilising the region.
Zulum’s revelation comes amid ongoing military operations aimed at curbing the insurgency and restoring peace to Borno, which remains one of the most affected states in Nigeria’s northeast.
The governor called on residents and security agencies to cooperate closely, emphasising that the fight against Boko Haram requires a united front to protect lives and livelihoods.
