Osogbo, Osun State – The countdown has begun as the city of Osogbo prepares to welcome athletes and supporters from across Nigeria and beyond for the fourth edition of the NASFAT Games, scheduled to run from September 7 to 13, 2025, at Fountain University.
Organized by the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), the annual sporting festival has grown into one of the most anticipated gatherings within the society, combining athletic excellence with faith-inspired values of unity, discipline, and community growth.
This year’s edition will feature 15 participating teams drawn from different zones, including Lagos Zones 2 and 3, Oyo Zones 1 and 2, Osun, Niger, Northeast, Northwest Zone 1, South-South, FCT, Ahmadiyyah, NASFAT Headquarters, and Fountain University. The highlight of the line-up is the participation of Côte d’Ivoire Zone, which brings an international dimension to the Games, showcasing NASFAT’s expanding global presence.
The tournament will feature a variety of events ranging from football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and lawn tennis to mental sports such as chess and scrabble, along with track and field competitions. Male and female athletes will compete side by side, reflecting the society’s inclusiveness and emphasis on equal opportunities.
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Abdulakeem Adeyemi, described the Games as a balance of faith, wellness, and fellowship. “The Games are about balance. Just as we nurture the soul and mind, we must also care for the body. NASFAT Games 4.0 is a celebration of wellness, faith, and unity. It is about showcasing talents, building friendships, and deepening the values of discipline and teamwork,” he explained.
Hosting the Games at Fountain University carries special significance. Established by NASFAT in 2008, the institution stands as a symbol of the society’s dedication to education, youth empowerment, and holistic human development. By bringing the Games to the campus, the society reinforces its mission of raising balanced individuals who excel academically, spiritually, and physically.
The international presence of Côte d’Ivoire Zone is expected to enrich the event, lending it a pan-African character and further uniting members of the ummah across borders. For many in the diaspora, it will serve as a homecoming, an opportunity to reconnect with fellow believers and strengthen bonds through sportsmanship and camaraderie.
As the event approaches, excitement continues to build among participants and supporters. Beyond the medals and trophies, the Games are expected to foster lasting friendships, encourage healthy lifestyles, and reinforce the values of teamwork and resilience.
For the people of Osogbo and the entire NASFAT family, September 7 to 13 promises not just thrilling contests on the field but also a vibrant celebration of faith, fitness, and fellowship. With the first whistle set to blow at Fountain University, all eyes will be on Osogbo as history unfolds in the chronicles of NASFAT’s journey.
