The 2025 IBB Captain’s Cup, one of Nigeria’s premier golfing events, is set to attract over 300 golfers from across the country. The tournament will take place from April 7 to 12 at the prestigious 18-hole IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.
Ibrahim Babayo, the outgoing captain of the IBB Golf Club, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made during his tenure. As he prepares to step down next month, Babayo shared his pride in the club’s advancements, particularly in improving the golf course and implementing new initiatives since he assumed leadership in 2024. “I am happy with the progress we’ve made, and I hope to be remembered for the positive changes at the club,” he said.
Ambassador Ben Okoyen, chairman of the organizing committee, reassured participants that despite recent concerns, the club is fully prepared for the tournament. He emphasized the importance of positioning Abuja’s golf course among the best in the world. “Abuja is Nigeria’s capital, and this club should reflect that status by competing globally,” Okoyen stated. “We are ready, and the safety of the course is guaranteed for all participants.”
The event will feature a mix of professional and amateur golfers competing in various categories, with a total prize pool of N5 million dedicated to the top 10 professional players. Ashir Tarfa, the secretary of the organizing committee, highlighted the extensive preparations in place to ensure a smooth and competitive tournament. “More than 300 golfers will gather in Abuja, and we are committed to making this year’s Captain’s Cup a seamless experience for all participants,” Tarfa said.
With everything in place, the 2025 IBB Captain’s Cup promises to be a highly anticipated event for golf enthusiasts across Nigeria.
