Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reinstated the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, just weeks after announcing the dissolution of the state executive council.
The development, confirmed by officials in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, comes as part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to restructure his administration for more effective service delivery. Olatunbosun, who held the same position before the cabinet dissolution, will return to oversee the state’s information and communication portfolio.
Governor Oyebanji had earlier explained that the dissolution of his cabinet was aimed at injecting “fresh energy” into governance, in line with his long-term development agenda. However, his decision to recall Olatunbosun reflects, according to insiders, a strong vote of confidence in the commissioner’s experience, loyalty, and media expertise.
Political analysts note that the reinstatement signals Oyebanji’s attempt to balance continuity with renewal, ensuring that trusted figures remain in place while new appointees bring innovation. Olatunbosun, a seasoned politician and media strategist, is expected to play a critical role in strengthening government-citizen relations and driving the state’s communication strategy.
The announcement has been welcomed by residents and party stakeholders, many of whom see the move as a stabilizing step for Ekiti’s governance, particularly as the state pushes ahead with programs in infrastructure, education, and economic empowerment.
Governor Oyebanji is expected to announce more appointments and adjustments in the coming days as part of the wider restructuring of his administration.
