Ibadan, July 8, 2025 — Oyo State has successfully delivered 368.9 kilometres of road infrastructure in the two-year phase of its Omituntun 2.0 development plan, the Commissioner for Public Works, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, announced during a press briefing at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan .
Mogbonjubola highlighted that this road network expansion is a key component of Governor Seyi Makinde’s strategy to boost economic growth and streamline intra-state connectivity. The expansion includes the ongoing 110‑km Ibadan Circular Road, with the 32‑km South-East Wing—stretching from the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway to Badeku village on the Ibadan–Ile Ife Expressway—set to be completed by year-end .
The circular route is designed to ease traffic congestion in the Ibadan metropolis and support new residential and industrial developments. The government is also advancing modern public transit infrastructure, including the nearly completed Iwo Road Mega Bus Terminal .
This milestone complements prior achievements under the Makinde administration. By August 2024, eight feeder roads totaling 38.48 km had been completed within Ibadan zone, adding to earlier phases that saw 152.92 km finished between June 2023 and May 2024, and 144.37 km from 2019 to 2023—bringing the grand total to 335.77 km, with more projects underway .
The completion of nearly 369 km of road in just two years under Omituntun 2.0 underscores the administration’s ongoing push to connect all zones, bolster rural access, stimulate agribusiness hubs—and ultimately diversify the state’s internally generated revenue .
By directing resources to both major arterial and internal feeder roads, Oyo State is positioning itself as a model for infrastructure-led development in southwest Nigeria.
