The Oyo State Government has issued a stern warning to students, school administrators, and invigilators against engaging in examination malpractice as the 2025 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) gets underway across the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Professor Salihu Adelabu, made this known during an unscheduled inspection of some examination centres in Ibadan on Monday. The inspection was part of efforts to monitor compliance with examination guidelines and to ensure the integrity of the ongoing national assessment.
Professor Adelabu expressed the government’s zero-tolerance stance on any form of cheating or compromise during public examinations. He reminded candidates that success achieved through illegal means is unsustainable and undermines their future potential.
“The government of Governor Seyi Makinde is committed to raising academic standards and instilling moral discipline in our students. We will not condone any malpractice or breach of examination protocols,” the commissioner stated.
He further assured that all supervisors and invigilators deployed to monitor the examination had been adequately trained and instructed to report any suspicious behaviour or breach of conduct.
While commending students for their orderly conduct so far, the commissioner advised them to remain focused, disciplined, and confident in their preparations. He also reiterated the importance of credible assessments in building a generation of responsible and capable leaders.
The Oyo State Government affirmed its continued support for quality education and promised to sustain efforts that will improve the performance of students in both internal and external examinations.
