Abuja, May 15, 2025 — Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has publicly praised Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), for his exceptional leadership and accountability in the face of recent challenges encountered during the 2025 UTME.
In a tweet posted this afternoon, Prof. Pantami described Oloyede as a man of “integrity and honesty” for his courageous decision to publicly apologise and take responsibility for the technical glitch that affected the results of thousands of candidates across the country.
“Commendation! Professor Ishaq Oloyede deserves special commendation for his performance as the Registrar of JAMB for about 9 years. He demonstrated integrity & honesty by apologising for technical challenges encountered,” Pantami tweeted, alongside a photo of him in a cordial exchange with the JAMB boss.
Pantami, who is also a university chancellor and leading voice in Nigeria’s tech and policy landscape, further emphasized the need for more public servants like Oloyede who embody accountability and transparency in public office.
“We need more people with integrity like Professor Oloyede in Nigeria to serve the country and humanity,” he added.
This commendation follows widespread reactions to the UTME results controversy, which saw over 380,000 candidates impacted due to a software failure at several CBT centres. Oloyede has since vowed to uphold the integrity of the exam process by ensuring affected students are allowed to retake the examination at no cost.
