Parents in Enugu Raising Alarm Over Soaring Private School Fees

Enugu | September 23, 2025

Parents in Enugu metropolis have expressed growing concern over steep increases in tuition fees and levies at private and faith-based schools.

Many parents reported that fees for nursery, primary, and secondary education have risen by 20 to 50 percent compared to the previous academic session, adding further strain to households already grappling with the rising cost of living.

One parent noted that the tuition for a junior secondary student rose from ₦100,000 to ₦150,000, highlighting the financial pressure many families now face.

Parents have called on government authorities to intervene and regulate school fees to ensure education remains accessible and affordable for all families in the state.

School representatives have yet to provide official comments regarding the fee adjustments.
