Person Living With Disability Casts Vote in Surulere, Commends Smooth Electoral Process

A voter identified as a person living with disability (PLWD) has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the local government elections in Surulere, Lagos State, describing the process as seamless and inclusive.

The individual, who cast their vote earlier today, commended electoral officials for the orderly and accessible arrangement at the polling unit. Speaking with reporters shortly after voting, the PLWD said the voting environment was calm and well-coordinated, allowing persons with special needs to participate without discrimination or difficulty.

“I was able to cast my vote without any stress. The LASIEC officials were helpful, and the entire process was smooth. This is the kind of inclusivity we have always hoped for,” the voter said.

This commendation comes amid broader efforts by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to ensure an inclusive election that accommodates all eligible voters, regardless of physical ability.

Observers at several polling units in Surulere also reported that voting materials arrived on time and security operatives were on ground to ensure orderliness.

The 2025 Lagos local government elections continue across various LGAs, with many residents turning out to elect new council chairmen and councillors.
