As of 9:55 am on Saturday, no voting activity had commenced at Polling Unit 044, located in the Iyana-School area of Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State.
Despite the presence of a few early voters who arrived expecting the exercise to begin promptly, election officials were yet to be seen at the unit. The atmosphere remained calm, but several residents expressed concern over the delay, noting that it could discourage turnout if prolonged.
Security personnel were observed patrolling the area to ensure order, while some voters took shelter nearby as they waited for officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to arrive with materials and begin the process.
The delay at this unit comes amid broader reports of logistical hitches affecting several polling units in the ongoing Lagos Local Government elections. LASIEC had earlier assured the public of its readiness to conduct a smooth and transparent poll.
Residents at the Iyana-School area are hopeful that voting will commence soon, as they continue to wait patiently for officials to arrive.
