The National President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), Billy Gillis-Harry, has stated that he cannot independently confirm any dispatch of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from the Port Harcourt Refinery depot as of now.
Speaking amid growing public speculation and media reports suggesting that the long-anticipated operations at the Port Harcourt Refinery may have commenced, Gillis-Harry clarified that no verifiable evidence has been presented to confirm that fuel loading or distribution has started from the facility.
He emphasized the importance of accurate information in matters affecting the energy sector, noting that while stakeholders and Nigerians are hopeful for the refinery’s return to full operations, transparency and official confirmation are critical. According to him, PETROAN, as a key player in downstream distribution, relies on verifiable logistics data to ensure accountability and efficient service delivery.
Gillis-Harry’s statement comes as the nation closely monitors developments around the Port Harcourt Refinery, which has been undergoing rehabilitation with high public expectations tied to its potential impact on fuel supply and pricing.
The optimism remains high regarding the refinery’s return to active production, stakeholders are urging caution and patience until definitive proof of product distribution from the site is confirmed by relevant authorities.
