In a deeply spiritual and emotional phase of the annual pilgrimage, thousands of pilgrims have commenced their journey from Mina to the plains of Arafat, marking one of the most significant moments in the Hajj rites. The movement began in the early hours of the day, under the supervision of Saudi authorities, who have implemented strict coordination and safety measures to ensure a smooth transition for all worshippers.
The Day of Arafat, which falls on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, is widely regarded as the pinnacle of Hajj. It is the day when pilgrims gather at the plain of Arafat to engage in hours of intense prayers, reflection, and supplication, seeking Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and blessings. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is reported to have said, “Hajj is Arafat,” underscoring the centrality of this moment in the pilgrimage journey.
Pilgrims, dressed in simple white garments symbolising equality and humility before Allah, move in solemn convoys and buses, chanting Talbiyah as they make their way to the sacred site. Upon arrival, they will participate in the standing at Arafat (Wuquf), an act that signifies the spiritual climax of Hajj.
Saudi Hajj officials, supported by thousands of volunteers and medical personnel, have been deployed along major routes to manage the flow of pilgrims and provide immediate assistance where needed. Weather precautions, hydration points, and emergency medical tents have also been strategically positioned across the route to Arafat to ensure pilgrims’ safety and comfort.
As the sun rises over the plains of Arafat, pilgrims are reminded that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to seek divine closeness and leave behind past transgressions. For many, this moment is the heart of their journey — a sacred dialogue between the soul and its Creator.
