Police Adjust Movement Restriction for Lagos LG Election to 6 a.m.–3 p.m.

Lagos, July 10, 2025 — The Lagos State Police Command has modified its initial plan for a 12-hour movement ban on July 12, the day of the Local Government elections. Instead of the previously stated 3 a.m.–3 p.m. window, the restriction will now be in place from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Command announced on Thursday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police and state police public relations officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the adjusted schedule aims to accommodate individuals with medical emergencies and those with pre-arranged international travel plans. He urged residents to cooperate and adhere to the new timing.

Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh stressed that this move is part of the broader security arrangements under the Inter‑Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) to ensure a free, fair, and violence‑free poll.

As mandated, all vehicles—including those of political figures—will be barred, and exceptions are limited to emergency services, accredited electoral officials, observers, and media practitioners holding valid identification tags certified by LASIEC.

Residents have been asked to remain alert and report suspicious activities promptly to designated emergency hotlines: 08063299264 or 08065154338.
