Umuahia, July 18, 2025 — The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects linked to a case of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery in the state. The arrest, which took place on Thursday, also led to the recovery of a firearm used in the operation.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, the suspects were apprehended following intelligence-led operations conducted by officers in a targeted raid across specific locations identified as criminal hideouts.
The police said the suspects had been under surveillance for their involvement in coordinated robbery activities across parts of Abia, where they allegedly dispossessed victims of valuables and cash at gunpoint.
During the arrest, security operatives recovered a locally fabricated firearm and other incriminating items believed to have been used in previous criminal operations.
“The success of this operation reinforces our commitment to protecting lives and property. The suspects will be charged to court after ongoing investigations are concluded,” the statement added.
The Abia State Police Command reiterated its appeal to the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious movements or persons within their communities, assuring that the command remains dedicated to eradicating violent crimes in the state.
