Police Arrest Over 150 Suspects in Jigawa Crime, Drug Crackdown

Dutse, Jigawa State | September 6, 2025 – The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of more than 150 suspects in a large-scale operation targeting violent crime and drug trafficking across the state.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the coordinated raids were carried out over several weeks and focused on identified hotspots notorious for criminal activity. The suspects, police said, were linked to cases of armed robbery, banditry, kidnapping, and the distribution of illicit drugs.

Security operatives recovered firearms, ammunition, motorcycles, and large quantities of hard drugs during the operation. The police noted that the crackdown was part of renewed efforts to restore public confidence, improve safety, and dismantle criminal networks operating within Jigawa.

The Commissioner of Police assured residents that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will face prosecution. He further called on communities to strengthen cooperation with law enforcement by providing credible intelligence, stressing that the fight against insecurity requires joint effort.
