Police Probe Attack on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Family House in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has launched an immediate investigation into the attack on the family house of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area. According to the police, the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on April 16, 2025, when about three hoodlums armed with cutlasses invaded the senator’s family home, damaging several front window glasses while attempting to gain access. The attack was repelled after a young man named Michael Akpoti raised an alarm, causing the assailants to flee.

The distress call was made by Yakubu Ovanja, an aide to Senator Natasha, to the Divisional Police Officer of Okehi Division, prompting an immediate on-the-spot assessment by police personnel. The Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a discreet and thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and apprehend those responsible.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned the attack, describing it as a calculated assault possibly linked to her outspoken stance against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she recently accused of sexual harassment. She revealed that the attackers mistakenly believed she was present at the residence during the raid. Fortunately, security operatives and community members responded swiftly, preventing any injuries.

The senator has called on the Inspector General of Police to reinstate her security details and urged the public to remain calm while supporting the pursuit of justice. The police investigation continues as authorities work to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of the senator and her family.
