Police Storm Criminal Hideout in Anambra, Seize Relief Materials

The Anambra State Police Command, in a joint operation with the Army, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Anambra State Vigilante, successfully raided a notorious criminal camp located at Ogbunka in Orumba South Local Government Area of the state. The raid, which was based on precise intelligence gathering, unfolded on Saturday and resulted in a six-hour-long gun battle between the security forces and armed criminals.

The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that the operation was executed by a joint security team. The team, which included personnel from the 302 Artillery Regiment of the Army, the Naval Command, and DSS operatives, launched the assault on the criminal hideout after receiving credible intelligence about the activities in the area. The armed criminals, who fiercely resisted the security forces, engaged in a gunfight that lasted for hours. During this period, some of the hoodlums managed to escape, suffering bullet wounds in the process.

The operation led to the discovery and recovery of several items, including pots, foodstuffs, and parts of dismembered vehicles believed to have been stolen. The police spokesperson noted that the criminals had also set up explosives around the camp, which were diffused by the security forces. These explosives had apparently been used by the hoodlums to defend the camp.

Ikenga further emphasized that the police and other security agencies have taken full control of the area, reinforcing their presence to prevent any further criminal activities and to apprehend the fleeing suspects. He reassured residents of Anambra State that the authorities remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties. He also expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the security forces by the citizens and affirmed that the police would continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace in the state.

The raid serves as a significant reminder of the collaborative efforts between various security agencies in the fight against crime and the importance of intelligence-sharing in ensuring the safety of the public
