Security operatives in Katsina State successfully prevented an attempted abduction in Gidan Zuma village, Sabuwa Local Government Area, on Wednesday. The swift intervention of police operatives thwarted the assailants’ plans, forcing them to retreat after a fierce gun battle.
According to a statement released by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Abubakar Sadiq, the attempted kidnapping occurred on March 19, 2025, at approximately 8:08 PM. A group of armed individuals, riding motorcycles and wielding dangerous weapons, including AK-47 rifles, invaded the village. Their objective was to block the Inono feeder road and seize unsuspecting travelers.
Upon receiving credible intelligence about the attack, operatives from the Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters were immediately deployed. The officers engaged the assailants in a gunfight, overpowering them with superior firepower and tactical expertise. The confrontation forced the attackers to flee in different directions, leaving behind a Honda motorcycle, which was recovered as evidence.
Following the foiled attempt, security personnel have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects. Tactical teams and intelligence units are combing the surrounding areas in search of the criminals. Authorities have urged local residents to report any suspicious activities that could aid in their capture.
