Port Harcourt I Customs Command Achieves ₦141.6 Billion Revenue, Records 32.9% Growth in First Half of 2025

July, 2025 — The Nigeria Customs Service, Port Harcourt Area I Command, has announced a remarkable 32.9% revenue increase in the first half of 2025, generating a total of ₦141.6 billion.

This was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, during a press briefing at the Command’s headquarters in Rivers State. The figure represents a significant rise from the ₦106.5 billion collected during the same period in 2024.

Comptroller Olomu attributed the impressive performance to enhanced trade facilitation, increased compliance from importers, and the adoption of smarter enforcement strategies. He commended officers of the command for their commitment and resilience in meeting revenue targets despite operational challenges.

“Our team has shown unwavering dedication to ensuring effective border management, eliminating revenue leakages, and boosting national economic stability. This milestone demonstrates the impact of continuous reforms being implemented across the service,” he stated.

He also praised the synergy between Customs and stakeholders, including terminal operators, clearing agents, and other sister agencies, for the Command’s successful revenue drive.

The Controller reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to sustain and exceed its target in the remaining half of the year, in line with the directives of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, who has consistently emphasized performance, transparency, and accountability.

The Port Harcourt I Command, which oversees the Rivers Port Complex, continues to play a strategic role in Nigeria’s maritime trade, facilitating import and export activities while ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
