Portable Takes Aim at Anthony Joshua, Demands N100 Million for Boxing Match

In a bold and unexpected move, Nigerian street-hop sensation Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has announced his desire to step into the boxing ring with former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. This declaration comes after Portable expressed disinterest in a previously planned boxing match against fellow musician Speed Darlington, whom he deemed an unworthy opponent.

Portable, known for his hit song “Zazuu,” has taken to social media to call out Joshua, stating that he is willing to fight the British-Nigerian boxer for a whopping N100 million. This move is seen as a publicity stunt by some, given the significant difference in their respective fields—music and professional boxing. However, it highlights Portable’s confidence and willingness to take on high-profile challenges.

The feud between Portable and Speed Darlington began when Darlington offered Portable N500,000 to perform at his upcoming show, an offer Portable considered insulting. Speed Darlington had been preparing for their scheduled bout, posting videos of his gym sessions and even buying a coffin in a symbolic gesture. However, with Portable now focused on Joshua, the match against Darlington appears to be off the table.

Portable’s past involvement in celebrity boxing matches includes a victory over Nollywood actor Charles Okocha in December 2023. Despite the odds against him, Portable’s bravado and determination have captured the attention of fans and critics alike, sparking lively discussions about the potential showdown with Joshua.

While the likelihood of such a match occurring is low, given Joshua’s professional stature and the logistical challenges involved, Portable’s declaration has certainly generated buzz and reinforced his reputation as a fearless and unconventional figure in Nigerian entertainment.
