President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has officially commissioned the Emeka Anyaoku Institute of International Studies and Diplomacy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s academic and diplomatic landscape. The Institute, named after the revered Nigerian diplomat and former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, is envisioned as a hub for nurturing future leaders in diplomacy and international affairs.
The commissioning ceremony, held at the university campus in Anambra State, drew the attendance of top government officials, academia, traditional rulers, and students. In his address, President Tinubu described the Institute as a tribute to excellence, character, and global service, urging the youth to draw inspiration from Chief Anyaoku’s legacy of integrity, patriotism, and global statesmanship.
“This Institute represents more than just bricks and mortar—it is a centre for advancing Nigeria’s voice on the global stage through research, diplomacy, and scholarship,” President Tinubu stated.
He commended the management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University for their commitment to academic innovation and their role in preserving the legacy of prominent Nigerians through educational advancement. The President also called on Nigerian universities to evolve into institutions that not only educate but also shape national discourse and global influence.
In a continuation of his working visit to Anambra, President Tinubu is also scheduled to commission Solution Fun City, a state-of-the-art recreational and hospitality complex developed to boost tourism and social development in the state. The expansive facility features the Anambra Country Club, a Family Fun House, a Water Park, and a fully equipped Amusement Park—all designed to promote leisure, wellness, and family bonding.
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, who is hosting the President during the visit, lauded the dual commissioning as a landmark moment for the state, blending academic prestige with infrastructural growth. He noted that the Emeka Anyaoku Institute would contribute to Nigeria’s soft power while the Solution Fun City project aligns with the administration’s vision of creating a modern, livable, and economically vibrant Anambra.
The President’s visit signals federal support for educational and developmental strides in the South-East, further affirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive national progress.
