President Tinubu Hosts Governor Sanwo-Olu, Ooni of Ife, and Alake of Egbaland in Lagos

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday received a distinguished delegation at his residence in Lagos, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo.  The visit, marking the Sallah celebrations, also featured members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.

The gathering was characterized by prayers, warm exchanges, and expressions of unity among Nigeria’s traditional and political elite, reflecting the president’s ongoing engagement with key stakeholders during the festive season.  This meeting comes amid recent reports of a perceived rift between President Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu, particularly following the controversial removal and subsequent reinstatement of Mudashiru Obasa as Lagos Speaker.

Governor Sanwo-Olu dismissed these rumors, stating, “There is none. He is my father and my leader, and we are grateful that he has given us the audience to say hello to him today.”  The presence of the Alake of Egbaland further underscored the significance of the gathering, highlighting the importance of traditional institutions in fostering unity and collaboration within the region.

The event was captured in a series of photographs shared by various media outlets, showcasing the leaders engaged in discussions and exchanging pleasantries.  These images serve as a testament to the enduring relationships between the political and traditional leadership in Lagos State.
