ABUJA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, June 26, 2025, received Her Majesty Queen Mary of Denmark at the State House in Abuja, during which both parties expressed mutual commitment to strengthening ties between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Denmark.

In a warm diplomatic engagement marked by cultural courtesies and strategic dialogue, President Tinubu called for expanded cooperation between both nations, with a focus on livestock development, sustainable agriculture, and educational advancement.

Welcoming the visiting monarch, President Tinubu acknowledged Denmark’s long-standing development partnerships with Nigeria and expressed appreciation for Danish support in the areas of climate action, renewable energy, and humanitarian efforts, particularly in the northern region of the country.

“I am pleased to host Her Majesty Queen Mary. This visit reinforces our shared commitment to global peace, inclusive growth, and sustainable development,” Tinubu said. “We welcome further collaboration with Denmark, especially in modernising Nigeria’s livestock sector through smart practices, veterinary support, and value-chain enhancement.”

The President also noted that education remained a cornerstone of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and expressed optimism that Denmark could support Nigeria’s efforts in vocational training, youth skills development, and educational exchange programmes.

In her remarks, Queen Mary praised Nigeria’s vibrant youth population and commended the Federal Government’s dedication to improving livelihoods through reforms in agriculture, health, and education. She assured President Tinubu of Denmark’s readiness to deepen bilateral ties in areas of common interest, particularly women’s empowerment and climate-smart agriculture.

Accompanied by Danish officials and business delegates, the Queen also met with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and visited select humanitarian and agricultural development projects in the FCT as part of her official itinerary.

The diplomatic meeting concluded with both countries reaffirming their commitment to shared values and future cooperation through enhanced trade, investment, and institutional partnerships.
