Katsina State is set to host a solemn moment as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to receive the body of former President Muhammadu Buhari upon its arrival from London. The remains of the late Nigerian leader will be flown into Katsina before being taken to his hometown, Daura, for burial.
According to official sources, the reception will take place at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport, Katsina, where top government officials, members of the Buhari family, dignitaries, and sympathizers are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
The late former President, who passed away in London after a brief illness, will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites in Daura, his ancestral home and political base. The funeral is expected to draw a significant number of attendees, including traditional rulers, political leaders, and members of the international community.
President Tinubu, who is leading the Federal Government’s delegation, is expected to deliver a brief tribute at the reception ceremony, honoring Buhari’s legacy and his contributions to national development, democracy, and security.
Security across Katsina and Daura has been heightened in anticipation of the high-profile funeral, with road diversions and tightened access around key routes.
