Her Excellency, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Special Envoy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES), was formally received by the President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan on Friday, June 13, 2025.
The high-level diplomatic engagement comes as part of Nigeria’s renewed efforts to strengthen regional economic cooperation and integration across West Africa. Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu delivered a personal message from President Tinubu, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties and accelerating the objectives of the upcoming West Africa Economic Summit.
According to official sources, discussions between both leaders focused on enhancing trade, infrastructure development, and collaborative security frameworks within the subregion.
President Ouattara expressed appreciation for Nigeria’s leadership role and pledged Côte d’Ivoire’s support for a successful summit. He noted that sustained dialogue and strategic partnerships among West African nations are critical to achieving long-term economic stability.
Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu reaffirmed President Tinubu’s dedication to advancing a shared vision of prosperity and regional solidarity, describing the visit as “a step toward forging a new economic frontier for West Africa.”
