PSG Secure French Cup Victory to Move Within Reach of Historic Treble

Paris Saint-Germain are now just one win away from etching their name in football history after claiming the French Cup with a commanding win over Reims, edging closer to a rare continental treble.

Already crowned Ligue 1 champions in April, PSG added the French Cup to their trophy haul with a clinical performance, marking a domestic double under manager Luis Enrique. The Parisian giants will now turn their focus to the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan in Munich next Saturday, where they aim to become only the 11th club to complete a treble of domestic league, domestic cup, and European Cup titles.

Bradley Barcola was the standout performer of the night, netting twice in the space of three minutes to put PSG firmly in control. His first came in the 16th minute, a precise low drive into the bottom corner, followed swiftly by a simple tap-in that doubled the lead. Achraf Hakimi added a third just before the half-time break, turning in a cross at the far post to give the Ligue 1 champions a 3-0 cushion.

Ousmane Dembélé had chances to stretch the lead further in the second half, but PSG couldn’t add to their tally. Nonetheless, the result was never in doubt, and the celebrations began as they lifted yet another domestic trophy.

Manager Luis Enrique will now attempt to make personal history as well, aiming to become only the second coach in football to win the treble twice. He previously achieved the feat with Barcelona in 2015. Only Pep Guardiola has done so before, completing trebles with Barcelona in 2009 and Manchester City in 2023.

As the Champions League final looms, anticipation is high. PSG are within touching distance of immortality, and if they can overcome Inter Milan, they will join football’s most elite group of treble winners.
