National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to victims of recent fire disasters in Toro Local Government Area, Bauchi State. The intervention follows a rapid assessment of the affected communities, aimed at alleviating the suffering of displaced residents.
The relief items distributed include 1,000 bags of rice, 966 cartons of spaghetti, 966 gallons of vegetable oil, 1,000 mats, and 1,000 blankets. These supplies were allocated based on the number of affected individuals in the impacted areas.
Muhammad Sani Umar, Deputy General Manager of Resettlement and Early Recovery at NEMA, emphasized the importance of community involvement in disaster prevention and recovery efforts. He called on residents to maintain hygiene and adopt safety measures to prevent future incidents.
Community leaders and beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely support, noting that the assistance would help ease their challenges as they work towards rebuilding their lives.
NEMA continues to coordinate with state and local authorities to ensure effective disaster response and preparedness across the region.
