RMRDC and NSCDC Mining Marshals Partner to Combat Illegal Mining

Abuja, Nigeria — September 21, 2025

The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals to strengthen efforts against illegal mining in the country.

The alliance was unveiled during a courtesy visit by the Mining Marshals’ Commander, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Attah John Onoja, to the RMRDC headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Friday, September 20.

ACC Onoja stated that the partnership aims to “combine scientific data with boots-on-the-ground security to protect Nigeria’s mineral wealth.”

The collaboration is expected to integrate research-driven insights from the RMRDC with field enforcement activities by the NSCDC Mining Marshals to curb unlawful mineral extraction.

The RMRDC, which oversees the development and utilization of raw materials in Nigeria, said the partnership reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s mineral resources and promoting compliance with national mining regulations.
