Samsung Loses Visionary Leader: Co-CEO Han Jong-Hee Passes Away at 63

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced today that its Co-CEO, Han Jong-Hee, has passed away at the age of 63. Han, who was also the CEO of Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) division, played a crucial role in shaping the company’s vision and strategy.

Han Jong-Hee joined Samsung in 1982 and rose through the ranks, holding various leadership positions within the company. He was appointed as Co-CEO in 2021, alongside Lee Jae-yong and Choi Gee-sung, and was responsible for overseeing the development of Samsung’s consumer electronics products, including smartphones, TVs, and home appliances.

Under Han’s leadership, Samsung made significant strides in innovation, design, and technology. He was instrumental in driving the company’s transition to 5G, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Han also played a key role in shaping Samsung’s sustainability initiatives, including its goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Han’s passing is a significant loss for Samsung, and the company has expressed its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Lee Jae-yong, Samsung’s Vice Chairman, said, “Han Jong-Hee was a true leader and a visionary who dedicated his life to Samsung. His contributions to the company’s growth and success will never be forgotten.”

Han is survived by his wife and two children. Funeral arrangements have not been disclosed.
