Sanwo-Olu Endorses GITEX Nigeria, Pledges Full Backing from Lagos Government

LAGOS — Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has thrown the full weight of his administration behind GITEX Nigeria, pledging strategic support for the international tech and innovation exhibition billed to hold in Lagos later this year.

The governor made the declaration on Monday, July 29, 2025, during a high-level stakeholders’ engagement in Alausa, where he emphasized the pivotal role of technology in driving Nigeria’s economic transformation. According to him, Lagos is ready to host the global tech community and harness opportunities GITEX Nigeria will bring to the state.

Sanwo-Olu lauded the organisers for choosing Lagos as the host city, stating that the decision aligns with the state’s vision of becoming Africa’s technology and innovation hub. He added that the Lagos State Government would work closely with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and other partners to ensure a successful outing.

He assured prospective investors and participants of Lagos’ readiness, citing the state’s investment in digital infrastructure, talent development, and support for tech startups as clear indicators of its preparedness to welcome innovation at scale.

GITEX Nigeria, an offshoot of the globally renowned GITEX Global held annually in Dubai, is expected to draw tech leaders, innovators, investors, and policymakers from around the world, positioning Lagos as a gateway to Africa’s digital economy.
