Sanwo-Olu, Remi Tinubu Commission New Primary Health Centre in Ikosi-Isheri

Lagos, July 9, 2025 — Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, alongside the First Lady of Nigeria and Senator representing Lagos Central, Oluremi Tinubu, on Wednesday, led the official commissioning of the Ikosi-Isheri Primary Health Centre located at Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ketu.

The event, which drew top government officials, healthcare stakeholders, and community leaders, marks a significant step in the state’s effort to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and expand access to quality medical services at the grassroots.

While addressing residents at the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving health infrastructure across all local councils. He said the new facility will not only serve the people of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA but will also help reduce pressure on secondary and tertiary hospitals in the state.

“This health centre reflects our belief that quality healthcare must begin at the grassroots. Our goal is to ensure that every Lagosian, regardless of status or location, has access to timely and efficient medical services,” the governor said.

Senator Remi Tinubu, who accompanied the governor, commended the state government for prioritizing the well-being of citizens, especially women, children, and the elderly, through investments in health.

She noted that functional primary health centres are vital for early detection and prevention of diseases, thereby reducing the burden on the nation’s healthcare system.

The Ikosi-Isheri Primary Health Centre is fully equipped with modern facilities, including maternity wards, consultation rooms, a pharmacy, and diagnostic equipment. It is expected to operate 24/7 with qualified personnel to attend to patients.

Residents of the community expressed appreciation to the government, describing the health centre as a long-awaited relief to the healthcare needs of the area.

With this commissioning, Lagos State moves closer to its target of delivering sustainable healthcare infrastructure across all 57 local governments and LCDAs in line with the THEMES Plus agenda.
