Saudi Arabia Launches “History of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques Forum” to Preserve Islamic Heritage

In a significant move to deepen global understanding of Islamic history and enhance the spiritual journey of pilgrims, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially launched the “History of Hajj and the Two Holy Mosques Forum”. The initiative was unveiled during the 49th Grand Hajj Symposium by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Consultant to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Foundation.

The forum, launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, is designed as a premier cultural and scientific platform to chronicle and promote the enduring history of the Two Holy Mosques and the annual pilgrimage. It aims to bring to light centuries of rich tradition, architectural evolution, and the spiritual and civilizational impact of Hajj on the Muslim world.

Speaking during the launch, Prince Faisal emphasized the need to document and share the profound heritage surrounding the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah, and to ensure that future generations understand the deep-rooted spiritual significance of Hajj. He added that the forum will host scholars, researchers, and cultural institutions to exchange ideas and knowledge on how best to preserve and disseminate this sacred legacy.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah also expressed its commitment to using the forum as a tool for enriching the Hajj experience through historical awareness and cultural engagement. The initiative is expected to foster interfaith dialogue, promote Islamic tourism, and strengthen the Kingdom’s position as the custodian of Islam’s most revered sites.

The launch comes as Saudi Arabia continues to expand and modernize Hajj operations, with digital transformations, infrastructure upgrades, and cultural initiatives all aimed at improving pilgrim welfare and deepening the spiritual meaning of the annual rites.
