Makkah, Saudi Arabia | July 30, 2025 — In a significant stride toward preserving Islamic heritage and enhancing the pilgrim experience, Saudi Arabia has launched an interactive Hijrah Train connecting the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. The initiative is designed to immerse travelers in the journey of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) during his historic migration (Hijrah) from Makkah to Madinah over 1,400 years ago.
The project, officially commissioned by the Kingdom’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, aims to provide spiritual enrichment and historical context for millions of pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah each year. Passengers on the train will experience a digitally enhanced journey, complete with audio-visual narratives, re-creations of key events, and educational stops reflecting the stages of the Prophet’s migration.
Officials say the train features modern technology, including interactive screens and multilingual narration, offering a deeply emotional and educational journey designed to strengthen pilgrims’ connection to the Prophet’s sacrifices and message of peace.
Saudi authorities noted that the initiative is part of broader efforts under Vision 2030 to integrate cultural preservation with modern infrastructure. The Hijrah Train is expected to become a core element of religious tourism in the Kingdom, while easing transportation burdens between the two sacred cities.
Pilgrims and tourists have already started booking tickets for the immersive experience, with many praising the Kingdom’s effort to combine spirituality with innovation in a respectful and engaging format.
