SECURITY BEEFED UP FOR SALLAH CELEBRATION IN ANAMBRA STATE: NSCDC Deploys Over 1,000 Personnel to Ensure Hitch-free Eid-e El-Fitr

As Muslims prepare to mark the end of Ramadan fasting with Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has intensified security arrangements across the state.

The Command has mobilized 1,045 officers and men to maintain peace and protect critical infrastructure during the festive period, according to a statement released on Saturday by Okadigbo Edwin, the Head of Media and Tactical Operations.

State Commandant Maku Olatunde has issued operational directives to all security heads, tactical squads and field officers to heighten surveillance before, during and after the celebrations.

“We have deployed our specialized units including armed squad, female strike force, rapid tactical squad, anti-vandalism squad, counter-terrorism unit and disaster management team to strategic locations,” Edwin revealed.

The deployment will provide maximum security coverage at Eid prayer grounds, amusement parks, recreational centers and other public spaces where large gatherings are expected.

Commandant Olatunde charged all personnel to discharge their duties with utmost professionalism while respecting citizens’ fundamental human rights.

“Our officers have been instructed to maintain 24-hour surveillance at identified black spots and high-risk areas to prevent any criminal activities,” the statement added.

The NSCDC also advised residents to be security conscious, monitor their children’s movements and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

While extending warm felicitations to Muslims, the Commandant assured that the Corps is working closely with other security outfits to neutralize any threats to public safety during the Sallah celebrations.
