Security Operatives Hunt Gunmen as Kidnappers Demand N100m for Abducted Naval Officer, Others.

Security agencies have begun a rescue operation for a kidnapped Defence Headquarters official, Lt. Cynthia Akor, along with two others, following their abduction in the Federal Capital Territory.

The victims were taken from their residence in the Mpape area of Abuja on Friday night.

Ransom Demand
A source, who spoke anonymously, disclosed that the kidnappers had contacted the families of the hostages, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.

“Three people were kidnapped on Friday night in Mpape. One of them is a DHQ official, Akor. The kidnappers have already reached out to their families, demanding N100m,” the source revealed.

Efforts to reach senior military officials, including the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

Security Response
When contacted, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, stated that she would verify the incident and provide further updates.

“I will confirm and get back to you shortly,” she said.

Meanwhile, a security source confirmed that a joint rescue operation involving the police and military personnel was already underway.

“The operation to rescue her and the others has started and is ongoing. Police and soldiers are already on it,” the source added.
