Senate Awaits CTC Before Acting on Natasha’s Court-Ordered Recall

Abuja, July 11, 2025 — The Nigerian Senate has officially stated that it has not yet received the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Federal High Court judgment that nullified the six-month suspension of Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan. Without this formal document, the Senate maintains that it lacks the mandate to reinstate her or take any action on the court’s directive .

Senate spokesperson Senator Yemi Adaramodu, representing the leadership, explained that although the ruling was delivered on July 4, the Senate’s legal team was present in court and noted that the full judgment was not read aloud. Consequently, the body has formally applied for the CTC to thoroughly review the decision and determine the appropriate next steps  .

Senator Akpoti‑Uduaghan had urged her return to plenary, but the Senate reiterated that no resumption would occur until it receives and evaluates the official court order  . 

Meanwhile, legal observers warn that no one may enforce the court’s judgment until the enrolled order is formally served  .

Senators also await evidence that the court’s recall directive was indeed included in the official ruling. The Senate affirmed its commitment to due process and adherence to constitutional procedures in resolving the matter.
