Senator Natasha’s Family Residence in Kogi Comes Under Fresh Attack, Suspect Caught With Charms and Weapons

The family compound of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Ihima, located within the Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, was once again thrown into chaos on Tuesday night, following a brazen attack by yet-to-be-identified gunmen. The assailants, who reportedly stormed the premises in large numbers, unleashed destruction on the property, breaking windows and damaging several items of value before being repelled by a joint security response.

According to a detailed account released by the senator’s media office, the attack was swiftly contained by a coordinated intervention involving officers of the Nigeria Police Force, members of the local vigilante group, and courageous youths from the community who mobilised in response to the alarming invasion. One of the suspects was successfully apprehended at the scene, while others managed to flee under the cover of darkness.

The individual in custody, whose name has not been made public by security agencies at the time of this report, is said to be an indigene of the area. Preliminary findings indicate that he may have ties to certain powerful political figures within the state. Eyewitnesses allege that the suspect confessed to participating in not just Tuesday night’s attack, but also two previous assaults on the same property, suggesting a disturbing pattern of targeted aggression.

Tension briefly heightened when a group of irate youths reportedly attempted to lynch the suspect in anger before law enforcement officers quickly intervened to prevent jungle justice. The suspect was taken into protective custody and is currently assisting with investigations. Recovered from him were a sharp cutlass and a pouch containing suspected charms, raising further concerns about the motives behind the repeated attacks.

This latest incident marks the second violent intrusion on the senator’s ancestral home in recent months. The residence was previously attacked on April 15, 2025, under eerily similar circumstances. However, unlike the recent incident, no arrests were made at that time, leaving residents and political observers to speculate about the motives behind the coordinated aggression against the lawmaker’s family home.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has yet to issue a personal statement on the incident, but her media team confirmed that investigations are ongoing and called on security agencies to ensure that the culprits and their sponsors are brought to justice without delay. The incident has further fueled growing public concern over the safety of politicians and the increasingly volatile security situation across parts of Kogi State.

As of press time, security operatives remain on high alert in the area, with patrols and surveillance reportedly intensified around the community to forestall any further breaches.
